Session description
Europe won’t reach its decarbonisation goals if a significant part of the existing fleet that will reach the end of its operational lifetime in the next decade does not get repowered. But as things currently stand, repowering will not be possible in a lot of cases, even on sites with an excellent wind resource. That is often due to regulatory barriers, but technology and acceptance can also play a role. Solutions do exist, but do we have the right framework to finally see more repowering in the market? The question is how to speed it up? Who are the players, what are the challenges, potential and obstacles?
