Biography

Chris Hansford has been working in engineering consultancy for 9 years, following a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Cambridge University. He currently works as an Senior Engineer and Team Lead at DNV in the Renewable Energy Analytics Section, leading the UK & Ireland Offshore Team. As industry experts, DNV acts as independent technical advisor for all stages of wind farm life, and Chris leads a team focused on supporting the growth of the offshore market through delivering pre-construction and operation energy assessments, operational performance analytics, benchmarking services and early development feasibility studies. Chris also undertakes wind turbine inspections, giving him a wide view of the operational reliability issues being faced by the industry. Chris helped develop a Global Renewables Benchmarking Database, through collating vast amounts of operational data, in order to assist developers, owners and operators in understanding, benchmarking and predicting the performance and operational costs of their wind farms.
