Senior Research Engineer, ORE Catapult

Biography

Michael graduated with a MEng in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from The University of Edinburgh before completing an Engineering Doctorate through the IDCORE Programme on HVDC multiterminal networks while based at the ORE Catapult. Michael is now a senior research engineer within ORE Catapult’s Applied Research Team where he specialises in grid integration. In this role, he has been heavily involved in the testing of the next generation of offshore wind turbines, helping design and commission an 18 MVA grid emulation system and supporting the grid compliance testing of 2 wind turbines. He has also been involved in a number of research projects to improve wind farm control and provide new ancillary services from offshore wind.
