Accelerating the energy transition is key, and as society shifts towards sustainable energy and key sectors like industries and transportation rapidly convert to electrification, it is clear that electricity will be the backbone of the entire energy system. Together with customers and partners, Hitachi Energy is committed to developing and deploying energy and digital platforms to help overcome the complexity and capacity challenges required to transition towards a carbon-neutral energy system.
Hitachi Energy’s history dates back to the late 1800s when electrical engineering companies ASEA (Sweden) and BBC (Switzerland) were formed during Europe’s industrial revolution. After introducing electrical power transmission, rail and industrial technologies, these two pioneering brands merged in 1988 to create ABB. In the following three decades, the company continued to develop industry-leading power and automation technologies. In 2020, Hitachi and ABB’s Power Grids’ business came together in a joint venture to create a new global leader in pioneering and digital technologies. Hitachi Energy has a proven track record and unparalleled installed base in more than 140 countries. Headquartered in Switzerland, it employs around 38,000 people in 90 countries and generates a business volume of over $10 billion USD.
