WindEurope response to European Commission’s consultation on the European Grids Package
The European Grids Package as part of the EU’s Competitiveness Compass and Clean Industrial Deal is expected by end of 2025. This legislative package presents an opportunity to upgrade and expand Europe’s grid infrastructure to support renewable energy integration and rapid electrification.
In our response to the consultation by the European Commission, we stress that EU needs to take decisive actions on electricity grids for competitiveness and security. Our recommendation includes top-down grid planning, streamlined permitting, smarter grid access rules, improved financing mechanisms, and stronger integration of flexibility solutions.
