Joint Letter – Redesign the Innovation Fund to support clean energy technologies
The Innovation Fund is an incredible financing tool to drive Europe’s transition towards climate neutrality while fostering the bloc’s competitiveness. It is also a unique tool that can directly invest EU funding in support of the Union’s climate & energy priorities.
Yet the Innovation Fund does manage to offer support to renewable energy projects that apply for funding. About two third of the funding allocated so far has been for carbon capture and storage and energy-intensive industries.
Together with five other clean energy technology associations we call for a redesign of the Innovation Fund to include a dedicated call exclusive to renewable technologies and storage.
