Joint Letter – A blanket ban on PFAS puts EU decarbonisation goals at risk
The European power sector supports EU efforts to reduce the use of PFAS. Wherever possible the industry commits to avoiding the use of these substances. But not all PFAS are the same and they can have very different environmental impacts. Any proposed ban on PFAS must be realistic and differentiate between each compound, their function, uses and effects. And consider the impact a ban could have on the availability of electrical equipment used in generation, transmission, and distribution networks. All of which are critical to reaching the EU’s climate & energy goal.
