EWEA appoints Kristian Ruby as Chief Policy Officer
The European Wind Energy Association has appointed Kristian Ruby as Chief Policy Officer.
Ruby is a widely recognised expert in sustainability communication and political affairs. He joins EWEA from Danish consultancy Operate, where he was manager in the sustainability team, specialising in climate, environment and energy issues.
Prior to his consultancy work, Ruby worked as a journalist and served seven years as a public servant in the Danish Ministries of Environment, and Climate and Energy and in the European Commission in the cabinet of the former Climate Action chief, Connie Hedegaard.
Ruby said: “I am looking forward to working at EWEA at this critical time where the wind industry is moving from the margins to the mainstream of the European energy system. With the Energy Union we have a real opportunity to push forward the integration of energy policy in Europe and show that wind is not only a sustainable solution to Europe’s energy security puzzle, but also a resilient driver for jobs and economic growth.”
Malgosia Bartosik, Acting Chief Executive Officer of EWEA, said: “Kristian has a strong strategic mindset. He comes to EWEA with a wealth of experience in politics and communication. He will be a great asset and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome him to the association.”
Kristian Ruby will assume his new role as EWEA’s Chief Policy Officer immediately.
