PO252: Optimizing blade repair and maintenance strategies: wind farm valuations, LCOE, and turbine level economics
Damian Malone, Vice President and Head of Corporate Development , SkySpecs
Abstract
In a world of rapidly rising raw material costs and ever-competitive auction processes, wind energy is coming under increasing margin pressure. Alongside it, a recent study by Wood Mackenzie suggests that O&M activity dedicated to blade repairs and retrofits is expected to grow to $5.2 billion over the coming decade, driven by an increased labor cost for repairs and replacement of aging equipment. This new scenario is forcing operators to reevaluate their maintenance strategies to optimize O&M costs with asset integrity. In this session, as the world's leading WTG blade monitoring solutions provider, SkySpecs will provide an in-depth look at traditional and alternative blade maintenance strategies and its effects on LCOE and ROI leveraging our Financial and Fleet Asset Management Insights comprising over 110 GW+ of assets monitored.
