In 2023 the European Commission tabled the Wind Power Package to strengthen Europe’s wind industry. Shortly after 26 EU Governments, the EU Commission, and the European wind industry signed the European Wind Charter to implement the 15 measures set out in the Wind Power Package. A lot has been achieved since. But a lot more needs to be done. Read our press release to find out what happened since. And also check out our detailed overview of all new wind energy manufacturing sites in Europe.
Europe is not yet installing enough wind farms to reach its 2030 renewable energy target. That’s mostly due to overly complex permitting, slow electricity grid buildout and insufficient electrification rates. The European Commission must address these issues in its Clean Industrial Deal, the new vision for a competitive and decarbonised European economy. Check out WindEurope’s positions on the Clean Industrial Deal and the upcoming EU Electrification Action Plan.
Building factories is good. But the best factory is useless without sufficiently skilled workers. Today Europe’s wind industry employs 370,000 people. By 2030 this number is set to grow to 600,000. Find out more about WindEurope’s education and skills activities.
