From vision to reality: the road to a wind-based energy system

High-level & plenaries

When: Tuesday, 2 April 2019, 15:15 - 16:30
Where: Auditorium 2

Session description

In recent months, wind energy has been increasingly touted as Europe's leading source of power by 2030 and ‘the backbone of Europe's energy transition.’ This perception is itself a major achievement for the wind industry. But many challenges must be addressed for that vision to become reality. Infrastructure and markets need to undergo a profound and rapid overhaul. New technologies increasing the flexibility of the energy system need to be deployed fast. 2019 will be a crucial year as European countries will adopt their National climate Climate and Energy Plans, which will drive (or discourage) investments and set the pace of the transition. This panel brings together senior representatives of Europe's leading developers to discuss the way forward as the wind industry embarks on the most defining journey of its history.
