Energy Islands

When: Wednesday 26 April, 13:00-16:00 (five talks)

Where: Hall E, F70

Open to: All registered participants

As transmission system operators, Energinet (Denmark), Elia and 50Hertz (two subsidiaries of Elia Group operating in Belgium and Germany, respectively) have built up a significant amount of expertise in offshore grid development and the integration of renewables into energy systems. They are now working at the forefront of the sector, building the world’s first energy islands in the North and Baltic Seas, driving Europe’s move to net zero through innovation and know-how.

Experts from the three TSOs (alongside experts from Elia Group’s newest subsidiary, WindGrid) will be holding five talks focusing on HVDC technology, environmental impact assessments, and the importance of international partnerships and knowledge sharing in the construction of these islands.
