Session description
The Latin America energy transition landscape is a varied one, characterized by success stories, disappointing regressions, ‘start and stop’ deployment cycles and intermittent government support and inconsistent policies. The panel will identify the ‘true successes’, in terms of policy and positive impacts for the energy transition, in specific Latin American markets and how they can be applied more widely across the region. Moreover, the panel will explore how best to translate Europe’s experience, from offshore wind deployment to permitting solutions to politically embedding the energy transition as a driver of economic development, to Latin America’s ‘maturing’ markets such as Brazil and Chile, a promising market such as Colombia, faltering markets such as Mexico and Argentina, and a nascent market like Peru.
