Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics and provide an opportunity for delegates to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please, join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO181: Study of the gross energy production forecast variation due to orographic map and long-term references choice

Stefano Macrì, Senior Wind Technology Specialist, Eni Plenitude

Abstract

The pre-construction Energy Yield Assessment (EYA) is a crucial step in evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of a wind farm project. This work aims to describe some choices that generally are faced while performing an EYA and how these choices can impact the results. This study wants to investigate how the gross Annual Energy Production (AEP) output can be influenced by the choice of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) adopted to describe the orography and the mesoscale/reanalysis data chosen as long-term wind measurement reference. For the sake of the comprehensiveness, other parameters are left constant, but this does not mean that their variation couldn't possibly have an influence on the results. The scope of this work it is not to indicate the proper solution or choice for the before-mentioned parameters, but it wants to share some reflections on how these choices could affect the EYA results. The case study treated in this work is an onshore wind farm located in Spain of nominal power around 100 MW.
