Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics and provide an opportunity for delegates to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please, join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO178: Train2Wind – an overview of the Lollex experiment

Gregor Giebel, Head of Section, DTU Wind

Abstract

TRAIN2WIND is a PhD TRAINing school analysing enTRAINment in offshore WIND farms with computer models and experiments. The 13 PhD students are currently working on the preparation of the Lollex experiment, in Lolland, Denmark. We are currently measuring the wind flow in the Rødsand II wind farm with several lidars, UAS and satellite observations. The measurements will be used in conjunction with the computer modelling (LES and WRF), which was executed beforehand to find the best measurement strategy, and afterwards to tune the models. Additionally, wind tunnel modelling, the analysis of a vertical axis turbine and of wind farm control complements the study of entrainment. The PhD students are also the subject of an observation by a humanities PhD student, establishing how an international collaboration works.
