We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics and provide an opportunity for delegates to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please, join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!
PO163: Development of an offshore LiDAR network to assist offshore wind expansion along the Dutch North Sea
Anthony Vitulli, Wind Energy Scientist Innovator, TNO - Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research
Abstract
The European offshore wind plans have envisioned a goal of 75GW of installed capacity in the North Sea by 2030. Recently, the Dutch government has announced additional 10 GW to be realized around 2031 to reach a total installed capacity of 21.5 GW. The new zones dedicated to the development of offshore wind farms have been selected and it is clear that wind energy will be deployed more in the northernly locations, far from the coast, where currently no accurate data on wind conditions are available. TNO supports offshore wind development by performing a long-term LiDAR wind measurement in the Dutch part of the North Sea and by making these data publicly available. From 2014, TNO is performing for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy LiDAR measurements campaign at three strategically located offshore platforms in the North Sea: Lichteiland Goeree (LEG), Europlatform (EPL) and K13A. Recently, TNO has conducted an analysis on the behalf of the Dutch Government to expand the measurement campaign coverage of over the North Sea, by proposing new locations for the installation of a LiDAR unit in the region of 'Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden' (TNW). In this work, we present the installation of a LiDAR at the so-called L02-FA-1 offshore platform in the indicated region and its first measurements.
