Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics and provide an opportunity for delegates to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please, join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO156: Recovery rate on measuring masts: what is the acceptable limit ?

Marion Jude, Wind analyst, Eoltech

Abstract

A measuring station can have a low recovery rate associated either to an entire single missing period or to several punctual blocks of missing data throughout the campaign. Whether the low recovery rate is associated to the first or the second case, the impact on the energy yield assessment will not be the same. The aim of this study is to estimate the impact, on the mean wind speed and on the estimated gross production, of recovery rates obtained from different associations of lengths of missing data (i.e. distribution of the missing data). Each association was tested 100 times randomly for a better repeatability of the results. The results indicate that both the lengths of the missing periods and the percentage of global recovery rate have an impact on the global wind speed and resulting gross production for a standard turbine type. Hence a recovery rate alone is not sufficient to estimate the impact of the missing data on the measuring campaign. The lengths of the missing data (i.e. distribution of the missing data) should also be taken into account in the uncertainty on the measuring campaign.
