Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please, join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!
PO146: How to conduct a dual scanning lidar campaign: Recommendations towards a standardised workflow
Dominic Champneys, Wind energy application research engineer, Leosphere (a Vaisala company)
Abstract
Dual scanning lidars (DSLs) are being increasingly used for the offshore wind resource assessment (WRA) application due to their high precision, ease of installation with minimal environmental impact and cost effectiveness. However, the technology is yet to benefit from a global governing standard or recommended practice. This work presents a comprehensive guide to using DSL for WRAs, drawing on practical, commercial experience. It includes information on all stages of a project, from feasibility analysis, campaign design and installation to calibration, verification, and the measurement campaign itself. This will provide a starting point for further standardisation such as the upcoming IEA task 52 recommended practice.
