Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics and provide an opportunity for delegates to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please, join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO142: Post construction analysis of an existing wind farm in a complex terrain and comparison of linear modelling results with 10-min averaged SCADA data

Sevinç Rüstemoğlu, Wind & Site Engineer, Nordex Group

Abstract

Turkey has a high wind energy potential, the sector has grown rapidly and it has become more competitive in predicting accurate annual energy productions. Although the country has a big potential of wind energy, in most of the parts the terrain is classified as complex according to state of art industrial criterions. Our recent studies show that improving the reliability of advance modelling approaches is inevitable due to the chaotic behaviour of the atmosphere. Range of predicted annual production values at hub height presents a large scale in a complex terrain comparing with actual yearly averages of existing wind turbines. A detailed investigation was done in order to identify the main factors of deviations between modelled production values and real time production data. As a second step of the study, another modelling approach is planned to be used and see the differences between two different models versus real time production data. Wind speed and production results for each turbine position was evaluated sequentially. RMSE of different modelling approaches in comparison with SCADA production data is depicted throughout the study.
