Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics and provide an opportunity for delegates to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please, join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO019: Anomaly and pathological behavior detection of Floating Offshore Wind Turbine based on neuron sensors and simulation models

Romain Ribault, Scientist in mooring and monitoring for MRE, France Energies Marines

Abstract

This study outlines the potential use of supervised and unsupervised neural networks based on synthetic data and inertial sensors installed on the floater of the wind turbine, for early failure detection. The hybrid approach is based on three components : (i) an inertial sensor for navigation installed on the floater, (ii) a nonlinear aero-hydro-servo-elastic global model of the floating wind turbine implemented in OpenFAST software, and (iii) an in-house developed monitoring software which (a) process data from weather forecast models, sensors, and OpenFAST simulations and (b) use pre-trained neural networks to automatically detect and classify defaults in the behavior of a FOWT by analyzing outputs of a minimal measurement setup, an inertial sensor for navigation. As part of Research and Development projects Subsee4d and DIONYSOS, FEM and CervVal applied the proposed solution on Zefyros wind turbine located in Norway (former Hywind Demo turbine), close to a future major site for the FOWT industry, the Utsira Nord site.
