Biography

Alessio is the Head of the Technical Affairs Macro-Area at Elettricità Futura, the leading Association in Italy representing the broader power sector with 500+ members and 70% of the market in Italy. In his current role, he leads the team of people looking after Policy & Regulation, European Affairs and Studies within Elettricità Futura. In May 2009 he achieved his first-class honour Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering (MEng) at the Universitá degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli in Italy and he was awarded the University Innovation Prize for his dissertation. Between 2009 and 2010 he completed the postgraduate Research Master (MRes) at the von Karman Institute (VKI) for Fluid Dynamics (Aeronautics & Aerospace department) in Belgium, winning two international prizes. In February 2013 he completed his PhD in Electronic Engineering at the Universitá degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli in collaboration with the VKI and Italian Aerospace Research Centre (CIRA) focussing on the research and development of optical sensing technologies for aerospace applications. In September 2012, Alessio started in Airbus and he was Photonics Specialist, working on optical fibre systems and digitalisation technologies for aerospace applications. Alessio was the coordinator of the ISROS Working Group on Optical Sensing (ISROS = International Society on the Reliability of Optoelectronics for Systems) and an Airbus UK representative within the SAE AS-3 Standardisation Committee (Fibre Optics and Applied Photonics Committee). Alessio is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the UK since 2013 and of the "Ordine degli ingegneri della Provincia di Roma" in Italy since 2019.
