Session description
Obtaining a building permit for a wind project is becoming an increasingly complex process: environmental, social and technical issues all need to be dealt with. Efficient planning and permission procedures are a crucial factor for a successful project, and are vital to access the market potential. This session brings together permitting authorities, project developers and communities to discuss the state-of-the-art of permitting in several countries. Topics include main steps and timelines for permitting, identification of the main bottlenecks and sharing of best practice examples. Presenters will discuss the designated areas for wind energy developments and streamlined process for site investigation. This session also explores how community engagement can facilitate the permitting processes.
