Session description
Decarbonisation of heating/cooling, transport and industrial processes through renewable electricity and sector coupling imply a shift towards more flexibility in the energy system, both from the supply and demand sides. This, in turn, creates a greater need for cooperation and coordination between Transmission System Operators (TSOs), traditionally responsible for connecting generators and balancing the grid, and Distribution System Operators (DSOs), traditionally responsible for connecting loads and distributing power to end-users, but who have become more active in network management with the rise of distributed and often intermittent renewable generation. This session will look at the challenges faced by TSOs and DSOs in the face of this evolution, and explore possible solutions.
