Overview
Grid constraints are one of the main obstacles to scaling up wind energy in Europe. Years of underinvestment in national and cross-border, on- and offshore grid infrastructure have slowed down electrification efforts across the Union and have led to rising curtailment of wind energy.
The European Grids Package must be a turning point that helps Europe cut its reliance on imported fossil fuels. The European Wind Industry calls on the European co-legislators to reach fast agreement on the Package by end 2026.
