BiographyJan-Hendrik Piel is chief information officer of the Nefino GmbH, a startup company and spin-off of the Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the European Social Fund. Nefino develops smart software solutions and provides consulting services to support renewable energy stakeholders in data-driven decision making for financial planning problems. As a PhD-researcher at the Information Systems Institute of Leibniz Universität Hannover and management assistant at the Leibniz Energy Research Center until April 2018, he coordinated a research group focusing on the software engineering of decision support systems in the areas of valuation and risk management of renewable energy projects, energy policy design, and energy systems modeling. He studied at Leibniz Universität Hannover and University of Bristol, United Kingdom, and received his M.Sc. in Economics and Management from the Leibniz Universität Hannover.
