Biography

Deo Onyango is an Executive and Sub Saharan Africa Leader for GE Renewable Energy’s Onshore Wind business and supporting Hybrid Solutions for the region. Deo is based in Nairobi, Kenya and in his role is driving GE’s strategic engagement in the development, financing and building of renewable power and grid infrastructure; delivering localized solutions to customers; and forging productive partnerships with local organizations, governments and communities for a positive impact. Previously, Deo was GE Africa’s Regional Commercial Growth Leader for East Africa responsible for business development and strategic growth of East Africa’s $120MM GE portfolio in power, healthcare, rail and aviation. Deo began his GE career in 2008 in GE Capital's Enterprise Client Group based in London as a RM/Director for Industrial Corporate clients typically with $500MM+ to $10B in revenues. Prior to GE, Deo was Vice President and Program Manager for the European Financial Sponsors Structured Investments Team in Citi Institutional & Citi Private Bank EMEA based in London. He joined Citi in 2001 through the bank’s financial analyst program. He holds a Masters in Finance (Msc) from London Business School, a Graduate Diploma in Investment Management from London School of Economics and an undergraduate degree in commerce and economics from the University of Nairobi. Deo currently serves on the Boards of the American Chamber of Commerce Kenya, Junior Achievement Kenya and Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO). He and his wife have two children.
