Jason Fields

Biography

Mr. Fields is a wind energy research engineer with experience on over 5000 MW of wind project development activities spanning multiple continents. He specializes in early stage development, particularly wind resource assessment and risk analysis. After spending several years in the private sector with Black & Veatch, he is now a member of the National Wind Technology Center within the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Mr. Fields is the secretary for the newly formed IEC 61400-15 standard “Assessment of site specific wind conditions for wind energy parks” as well as serving as an advisor/organizer for several industry working groups including Power Curve Working Group, Consortium for Advancement of Remote Sensing, and RECAST. Mr. Fields is also the principal investigator the US DOE’s Performance Risk, Uncertainty and Finance (PRUF) project and includes the Wind Plant Performance Prediction (WP3) Benchmark and OpenOA open source software tool.
