Biography

Mechanical engineer specialized in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), Baris joined 3E as wind analyst and project manager in 2009. Since 2016, he is the technical manager of the wind resource assessment team. His area of expertise includes design, follow-up and analysis of wind measurement campaigns, wind resource and energy yield assessment studies, classification of sites according to the IEC norm, SCADA data analysis and technical due diligence on energy yield and project development. His track record includes more than 4GW of projects in Europe, Turkey and South Africa, using various modelling techniques and measurement devices. Baris also acts as a reference expert for offshore wind projects and participated in the design of all offshore wind farms in the Belgian North Sea to date. Baris graduated from the Middle East Technical University (Ankara, Turkey) with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2003. In 2005, he obtained his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in CFD from the Technical University of Istanbul (Turkey). He then finished a post-graduate course in the Turbomachinery and Propulsion Department at the von Karman Institute (Belgium).
