Head of Offshore Wind Energy Bussiness Unit, CENER
Biography
José Azcona (PhD, MEng) graduated in Industrial Engineering at the Universidad Pública de Navarra and obtained his PhD in Naval Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. He has more than 15 years of research experience in the field of Renewable Energies. José started working in the wind energy field in rotor design and load calculation for wind turbines. He has taken part in the IEA annexes 23 and 30 on validation of integrated simulation codes and he has leaded several tasks in European research projects (INNWIND.EU, IRPWind). He has developed the OPASS code for the dynamic analysis of mooring lines that was validated experimentally and coupled with tools for floating wind turbines. José has developed the Software-in-the-Loop hybrid testing method for scaled wave tank experiments of floating wind turbines. His main research topics are related with integrated simulation, floating wind turbine design and dynamic simulation and scale testing of floating wind turbines.
