With today’s energy industry rapidly changing, the need for energy companies to innovate is critical. As customer behaviours evolve, energy demand increases, and the need to decarbonize accelerates, energy organizations will need to increase innovation through the latest cloud technologies such as high-performance computing, AI/ML, edge computing, and many others. Working together with an expansive network of energy partners, customers and start-ups, AWS is reinventing energy and using cloud technologies to build and scale the energy systems of the future, including wind and renewables. These energy systems put your data to work and provide the tools to uncover insights that are helping leading organizations across the value chain increase energy production, lower cost and emissions, reduce risks, and maximize safety security.

Today, 80 GW of wind energy projects are stuck in a permitting process across Europe. The permitting process is highly manual and involves coordination with many permitting authorities at local, regional and national level – however, there is a lot of opportunity to leverage digital technology to streamline and accelerate this process. AWS is proud to have collaborated on Easy Permits, a cloud-based digital permitting solution that can help public administration and local communities to embrace and speed up the whole permitting process. Leveraging Amazon’s distinctive “Working Backwards” innovation mechanism, AWS, WindEurope and Accenture were able to quickly move from idea to solution in 12 weeks. Currently this solution is now live in two pilot municipalities in Denmark, with plans to scale this solution to other European Member States. Additionally, the solution is designed in a modular and intuitive way, so it can be easily adapted to any process, any geography or even technology. Find out more here:
