Vind AI Launches New Digital Platform to Propel Onshore Wind Development

Norwegian technology disruptor Vind AI is launching a cutting-edge digital platform to support developers in designing and assessing onshore wind parks more efficiently, smartly, and with a sharper focus on environmental and community impacts.

“Digital and AI-powered tools can now transform project planning and execution of onshore wind,” says Helene Bøhler, CEO of Vind AI. “After launching our offshore wind platform in 2022, we have now expanded our platform to support both sectors. Even before launch, we’ve seen enormous interest from the market, reflecting the growing momentum to develop onshore wind more efficiently and sustainably.”

Built on the foundation of a leading offshore wind platform

Vind AI’s platform for offshore wind is already trusted by Europe’s leading wind developers, including RWE, EnBW, TotalEnergies and Corio Generation.

“Vind AI has emerged as a key player in the wind industry, leveraging cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence to significantly accelerate the development of wind farms across Europe,” says Diana Barrios, WindEurope’s Head of Membership.

“Their innovative platform is enabling major developers to optimise designs and reduce timelines, which is crucial for meeting Europe’s ambitious renewable energy targets. Vind AI’s growth is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in our sector. WindEurope is proud to support members like Vind AI, whose success reflects the strength of our network and our shared commitment to advancing the wind energy industry.”

Optimising projects and portfolios

The onshore version of Vind AI supports data-driven decision-making in the development of individual wind farms through precision yield optimisation, noise and shadow analysis, and environmental visualisations, while providing a comprehensive overview of an entire portfolio of wind farms, enabling detailed comparisons of wind parks for enhanced performance and strategic planning.

Vind AI shaped the onshore platform in close collaboration with renewable energy players like Eviny, Hafslund, Hydro Rein, OX2 and Cloudberry. They provided critical insights during the development phase of the platform, ensuring the platform addresses real-world challenges faced by developers.

“Vind AI’s platform allows us to manage more projects without sacrificing accuracy. By providing precise data earlier, we make faster, more informed decisions, ensuring high-quality designs. This efficiency not only strengthens trust with stakeholders but also accelerates our overall project assessment process.” says Mats Jønland, Business and Project Developer at Eviny.

Enabling a new phase of onshore wind

With the launch of this new platform, Vind AI aims to play a pivotal role in Europe’s next phase of onshore wind development.

“This is a chance to do things differently,” adds Helene Bøhler. “It isn’t just about scaling up – it’s about building smarter, faster, and with greater respect for the communities and environments we’re working in. Our platform is ready to help developers meet that challenge.”

Innovation Fund Webinar

Innovation fund

The Innovation Fund is the EU’s largest funding programme to demonstrate and deploy innovative low-carbon technologies.

Last year the European Commission awarded a total of €220 million in funding to six wind energy manufacturing and pilot projects. This year the Innovation Fund call has made €2.4 billion available – €700 million for clean tech manufacturing. The call is already open and the deadline for applications is 24 April.

To support you in securing access to some of the €2.4 billion, we’ll host a special webinar on 5 February, 15:00-16:30 CET – please register at the link below. We’ll also hold individual advisory sessions with expert consultants for members that want to submit a project proposal. Together with PNO we will provide you with the necessary info and guidance you’ll need for a successful application.

Interested in discussing your project proposal with an Innovation Fund expert consultant? Please fill in this form and send it to Nina Mavrogeorgou ([email protected]) and Diana Barrios ([email protected]).
