Location: A4.4 – First floor, Congress Centre Hamburg

Stop by and enjoy a coffee while learning about new opportunities in the US Market.

Tom Kiernan, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association, will be joined by Mark Albenze, CEO of Siemens Energy’s Power Generation Services and Service Renewables, and Morten Dyrholm, Group Senior Vice President, Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs at Vestas Wind Systems, in discussing major new opportunities in the U.S. market, which topped 75 GW in capacity in August and saw completion of its first offshore turbines. After brief opening statements, they will take questions from the audience.

Record construction has been driven by a 66 percent decline in wind energy prices since 2009, and Power Purchase Agreements with major utilities; manufacturers such as General Motors and Procter & Gamble; and retailers such as Ikea and Walmart, with increasing interest from municipalities and universities. A burgeoning O&M sector is keeping pace with nearly 50,000 land-based turbines now installed.

Policies that recognize the advantages of low-carbon energy start with the current administration’s Clean Power Plan, which the courts will return to in coming months. Areas of agreement between American presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump include investment in transmission infrastructure to connect the best wind resources with population centers. Percentage of generation capacity remains on track to double by 2020 and double again by 2030, to 20 percent of total U.S. electric generation.

This event is open to all participants – a valid WindEurope Summit 2016 pass will be needed in order to enter.
