Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO308: Oil Condition Monitoring techniques for life extension and life management in onshore and offshore Wind Turbines

Ignacio Romero-Sanz, Global Technical Practice Lead - Wind Engineering, BUREAU VERITAS

Wind-energy asset owners are confronted with critical business decisions as their wind farms approach the end of their operational lives, which forces them to be made around life extension, repowering or full decommissioning for these assets, while preserving safety and keeping low maintenance costs Despite continuous innovation in designs, lubrication systems, improvements in the properties of the different materials and in the formulations of the lubricants used, maintenance challenges and opportunities in wind turbines persist, as a consequence of unexpected additional fatigue of the components, and/or by external contamination (by water, air or dust particles) jeopardizing the theoretical useful life of these components. Through the results of this study, we have been able to understand these modes of degradation, and above all, it has led us to propose new alternatives within the OCM - Oil Condition Monitoring programs that have allowed us to improve the early detection of possible failures and to be able to thus extend the useful life of the wind turbine and/or facilitate life management strategies
