Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO228: Unlocking value in the supply chain: how standardization has optimized our electrical engineering business and provided added benefit to customers

Torben Larsen, Chief Operations Officer, Scanel Green Energy

Abstract

Offshore wind is in turbulent waters at the moment. While some of the challenges are outside of our control - the Russian invasion, global supply chain challenges, rising inflation - others we have brought upon ourselves. In the feverish race to lower LCoE to make offshore wind more affordable, policymakers and project developers facilitated a turbine arms race which has left the supply chain reeling and woefully behind. Cost reductions have come, but at a great price. It is time for Tier 2 and Tier 3 supply chain companies to raise their voice and articulate a clear vision for how they will be able to meet the astronomical offshore wind ambition by 2030. And importantly, these visions toward serial production must outline in plain language what conditions must be met in order for businesses to deliver exponentially more units. It is critically important that every company in the supply chain seize the opportunity to state clearly what its conditions for success look like up to 2030 and beyond. This workshop-style, interactive presentation will demonstrate in no uncertain terms how a 2030 standardization vision from Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers should look. As a leading supplier of electrical systems in the wind industry, Scanel International will take learnings throughout our own standardization and modularization process - with successes and failures along the way - and share ideas so that wind supply chain companies have everything they need to develop their own standardization strategy that will meet the needs of the industry and be done in a way that ensures financial health. And we also want to hear from delegates who are on the same journey! We will facilitate an interactive portion to ensure that valuable, thought-provoking ideas and past experiences are heard from every corner of the room.
