Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!
PO012: Maximising Wind Revenue and WTG performance through Machine Learning and Condition Monitoring
Abid Sayeed, Offshore Wind Asset Management and O&M, Kent
Abstract
Maximizing wind revenue and Wind Turbine Generator performance is crucial in the renewable energy sector. This presentation explores the application of digitalization, machine learning, and condition monitoring systems to optimize WTG operations and maintenance (O&M). Traditional "95% availability" metrics may not align with optimal revenue generation, leading to potential losses. This study demonstrates how operators can minimize revenue losses by utilizing machine learning to reduce stoppages and respond swiftly to faults and scheduling maintenance outside the WTG design operating wind speeds. Key factors considered include actual wind resource, wind speed, WTG performance status, and lost revenue calculations. Standardized reason codes also enhance fault tracking, enabling better analysis to mitigate revenue losses due to frequent stoppages and performance issues.
