Biography
Nicolas Smadja is the Head of Legal Affairs at ERG France. He is also a lecturer in energy law at various universities, including Paris 7 Diderot, Strasbourg, and Montpellier. Additionally, he serves as Vice-President of the Regulatory Affairs and elected representative in the Onshore Wind Board of the Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables (SER). He also leads the Energy Commission at the French Association of In-House Lawyers (AFJE).
He has a professional background that includes an experience as a lawyer at the Regulatory Energy Commission (CRE) (2004-2007), where he was responsible for regulatory and contractual aspects related to the liberalization of energy markets.
He joined the wind developer EPURON (later becoming ERG France after its acquisition by ERG in 2018) in November 2007. In this role, he is managing the legal department, handling issues related to the development, construction and operation of wind and solar projects.
ERG, the Italian group Nicolas Smadja is associated with, is a major player in onshore wind and solar energy in Europe. The company owns an operational asset portfolio of over 3 GW in Europe, including 672 MW in France, and employs more than a hundred people in this country.
