Biography

Jan Teuwsen currently heads the offshore grid projects department at Amprion, one of the four German transmission system operators. He is a graduate industrial engineer from TU Dortmund University. After his studies, he spent five years at the Institute of Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Economics at TU Dortmund University, where he also completed his doctorate in electrical engineering in 2016. During his whole academic career as well as in his PhD thesis, his research was focused on holistic energy system planning. Since 2016, Jan has held various positions at Amprion and began working on offshore topics in 2020. Since then, he and his team have been developing offshore grid concepts and are now moving from concepts and planning to projects and implementation - step by step.
