Families and children discover the power of wind energy in Copenhagen

On Sunday, 6 April more than 550 people gathered at the Wind Energy Open House in Copenhagen to learn more about wind energy’s role in a more sustainable future.

The Wind Energy Open House organised by ENERGY & WATER, Green Power Denmark, Wonderful Copenhagen, Copenhagen Legacy Lab and WindEurope offered an interactive platform for visitors to discover the potential of wind power. From building wind turbine blades from recycled materials to generating renewable energy, participants explored the many ways wind energy contributes to a sustainable future.

The wind industry prepares to nearly double its current workforce to 600,000 by 2030. The Open House aimed to inspire the next generation of renewable energy professionals.

Event Highlights:

WindEurope Education & Skills Manager Mariana Batista said: “The enthusiasm was visibly strong – children were genuinely excited about energy, how it works, and how it connects to their everyday lives. We need more educational initiatives that break down complex topics, make them engaging, and empower young people to see how they can take action on climate change and be part of the renewable future.”

Wonderful Copenhagen CEO Mikkel Aarø-Hansen said: “Wonderful Copenhagen has had a close collaboration with WindEurope for years, and the dedicated cooperation around the legacy activities is very valuable for both public and private stakeholders in Denmark. When a congress the size of WindEurope comes to town, it is a unique opportunity for us to focus on important topics such as inspiring young people to learn about wind and green energy.”
