Offshore wind outside Europe: a look at the US, Taiwan and Japan

Policy & markets

When: Friday, 28 September 2018, 13:55 - 14:50
Where: Room: Bilbao

Session description

The extraordinary progress on both price and performance of the European offshore wind industry over the past several years has caught the attention of policymakers, investors and developers in markets around the world, particularly in the Americas and Asia. While there are a wide range of new markets where interest in offshore is picking up, this session will focus on Japan, Taiwan and the United States, all of whom have the potential to become major new markets for the offshore industry. Taiwan is leading the charge at the moment with it’s 5.5 GW pipeline to be built out by 2025, but both Japan and the US have the potential to be much larger markets in the medium to longer term.
