When: Thursday, 27 September 2018, 10:45 - 12:00
Where: Room: Brussels
Session description
As more emphasis is placed on the merchant period and we move away from a world characterised by long-term support regimes, this session will explore how investors and financiers are coming to terms with a changing risk profile. How to address the increasingly difficult task of taking a long-term power price view in an evolving energy environment? What can we do to protect our investments from volatile wholesale prices? What contractual products are available? Are we taking merchant risk for granted and is it correctly priced?
Learning objectives
- Learn about the key risks associated with a merchant electricity market;
- Identify mitigation strategies commonly used by financers (banks and investors) when tackling merchant risk;
- What are the industry implications of increasing merchant profiles?
