Session description
In recent years, the wind industry has transformed remarkably. Record low strike prices are being reached in tenders. Corporate Renewable Power Purchase Agreements are transforming how major corporates source their energy. Technology cost reduction and increasing exposure to market dynamics are forcing the industry to think beyond traditional support mechanism models. The landscape of financial investors has also evolved significantly. This brings new opportunities, but also significant challenges: there is no one-size-fits-all model for how industry players should operate in a merchant environment. Different regions and different players require different solutions. This session will set the scene for a day of discussion and reflection about how the industry can address reduce the uncertainty arising from tougher global competition, shifts in global trade and domestic policies, and secure the stable revenues that will allow it to keep growing.
