Maintaining security of supply whilst cost-effectively integrating large quantities of renewable energy is the main challenge for the future European power grid. The EU funded research project PROMOTioN (Progress On Meshed HVDC Offshore Transmission Networks) addresses this challenge by demonstrating a broad variety of key technologies, as well as providing a solid research basis to prove their technical viability.
This side event presents the most recent conclusions and demonstration results of the project regarding
- HVDC circuit breakers
- Gas-Insulated Switchgear Systems
- HVDC Network Control & Protection
- Black Start Functionality and Capability of Offshore Wind Turbines
- Standardisation and offshore/HVDC grid codes
A detailed agenda of this event as well as the opportunity for registration is provided on the project website.
