Session description
GWO training provider RelyOn Nutec will deliver an exciting programme of live demonstrations, combining several GWO training modules into one realistic training scenario. RelyOn Nutec's specialist instructors have devised a 45-minute demonstration programme which will be repeated across the three day schedule. The programme includes key elements from Working at Height, Advanced Rescue, Enhanced First Aid, and for the first time ever, Sea Survival and Slinger Signaler.
Demonstration scenario
- 1. Ladder - A team of offshore service technicians are climbing up the ladder towards the transition piece (TP) of the wind turbine. During this activity one of the technicians is injured and is unable to climb further up or down. His colleagues immediately start preparing for his rescue: a rescue device will be attached to the boat landing ladder, the rope will be lowered and fixed to the casualty, before he is lifted out of the fall arrest lanyard and finally lowered back towards the boat.
- 2. Nacelle - A lifting bag is to be lifted from ground level to the nacelle rooftop by use of the crane. The crane operator has no visual on the load and must perform this operation by looking at the hand signals of the signaler. In the nacelle, a simulated technician injury (severe bleed using a rescue dummy) in the yaw section of the turbine. Demonstrators will perform first aid: control bleeding -> scoop and run: rescue-up with the power tool towards the nacelle, there the casualty is strapped into the stretcher and then lowered through the emergency escape hatch towards ground level. Arriving on the ground the injured person suffers a cardiac arrest; colleagues on the ground start to provide CPR, airway management, applying the AED and the Lukasz mechanical CPR-device.
- 3. The technicians in the nacelle prepare the rescue kit and escape from the smoke filled nacelle. Before entering the water they inflate their life jackets. Once floating in the water they separate themselves from the rescue device and swim towards the life raft. Finally they are winched out of the life raft by the SAR-helicopter.
Audio-visual The Zone will be equipped with a Bosch Silent meeting system, allowing demonstrators to be clearly heard by audience members. Cameras in the pool and the nacelle will stream live images to the video screen. The speaker will also refer to the images displayed on the screen during his presentation.
