Shota Ichimura joined Renewable Energy Institute in 2018. He has extensive on-the-job experience through being engaged in many infrastructure projects that support essential utilities. In addition to research and development on wavelength division multiplex (WDM) systems of submarine fiber-optic cable, he worked for a communications company and a power cable manufacturer and has led international projects including installation of submarine fiber-optic cable and power cable abroad. Also served as a project manager of large-scale solar power generation (mega solar) in Japan. Earned a master’s degree in architecture from Tokyo University of Science. A First-Class Electric Works Execution Manager. At Renewable Energy Institute, his research focuses on the Asia Super Grid (ASG) and market design for electricity reform. His publications include a joint study with Agora Energiewende "Integrating Renewables Into the Japanese Power Grid by 2030" (2018) .
