Biography
Prof. Ramon Blasco-Gimenez obtained his BEng. degree from the Technical University of Valencia, Spain, in 1992, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nottingham, U.K., in 1996. He is currently a Professor at the Dept. of Systems Engineering and Control of the Technical University of Valencia. He has been a consultant to main Spanish utilities and OEMs on integration of wind power plants in weak grids and in HVDC grids. His research interests wind power generation and grid integration of renewable energy, including pioneering work on the use of diode rectifiers for the HVDC connection of off-shore power plants and more than 15 year experience on control of grid-forming converters. Prof. Blasco-Gimenez is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Chartered Engineer (U.K.), guest researcher of the Solar Energy Research Centre SERC-Chile and member of several Cigre and IEC working groups.Presenter
