In the last 15 years, he has been involved in projects and has provided engineering consultancy services, mainly structural engineering, to over 300 wind farms in 30 different countries. He has led different R&D national and international projects in advanced structures and, especially, in innovative sub-structures for onshore and offshore wind turbines. In this field, he has reached different milestones, for instance the fulfilment of the ELISA and ELICAN projects, both partially funded by the European Commission’s H2020 program, which have allowed the installation of the world’s first craneless bottom-fixed offshore turbine. Similarly, he is the author and inventor of the TELWIND technology, also partially funded by the European Commission’s H2020 program. This is an integrated telescopic tower and evolved spar floating substructure to move next generation of offshore wind turbines to deeper waters while providing more efficient local installation means
