Biography

Raúl Guanche García. PhD. MsC Civil Engineer. He is currently responsible for the Offshore Engineering and marine renewable energies research group of the Environmental Hydraulics Institute of the University of Cantabria. He has developed an intense research career and collaborated with numerous engineering firms in techno-scientific projects focused on different areas related with the ocean engineering sector. In the last 8 years he has participated in more than 50 projects in the field of offshore engineering and more specifically in the marine renewable energy sector, having developed numerical and experimental methodologies for seakeeping analysis, mooring system design, floating offshore wind platform design and optimization among other areas of expertise. He’s research activity combines basic with applied research with more than 50 techno-scientific publications, most of them in specialized journals like Ocean Engineering, Renewable Energy or Wind Energy. He has co-authored of 9 patents on devices linked to the offshore wind and offshore aquaculture.
