Overview
This paper sets out WindEurope’s response to the European Commission’s consultation on the Critical Raw Materials Act Regulation Implementing Act on the list of products and components having a relevant critical raw material recovery potential. In its response WindEurope calls for a pragmatic, evidence-based approach regarding the inclusion of wind turbines in the list of high critical raw material (CRM) recovery potential products. This includes calls to the Commission to refrain from setting mandatory extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes for wind turbines or recycled content obligations on permanent magnets. And instead focus on enabling policies such as dedicated waste codes for permanent magnets, investment in CRM recycling technologies, and incentives for refurbishment, resale, and reuse.
