Overview
The Commission will publish the EU Ports Strategy during the fourth quarter of this year. It aims to frame the current and future challenges for European ports, and will define what are the EU priorities for the port sector.
In our response to the consultation by the European Commission, we stress that it should recognize ports as critical infrastructure for the energy transition and provide targeted investment and better permitting tools. We ask the Commission to recognise the major socio-economic benefits of investing in offshore wind ports and request the Strategy to include financial instruments available accordingly. The Strategy should also lay the base for an EC-led mapping of port capacities and offshore wind needs.
