Session description
The oldest wind farms are often located in sites with excellent wind conditions but have the least efficient turbines. Repowering them with new turbines is very effective, but not enough is happening. Many European countries lack effective repowering strategies, and cumbersome permitting procedures are holding back progress. Grid connections for repowered wind farms are difficult to obtain, leading developers to keep old turbines running instead. This needs to change to ensure the benefits of repowering are realized across Europe. Join this panel discussion to learn if and how we can boost the repowering of old wind farms.
